Reina joined TURN in October 2022 and now serves as a Paralegal. She supports TURN’s legal team by preparing filings, conducting legal research, and managing the submission and service of documents in proceedings before the California Public Utilities Commission. She also assists with day-to-day administrative tasks.
Growing up in Tokyo, Japan, Reina always enjoyed getting involved in various organizations that worked to help others in need. She continued this passion in college, where she was an active member of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee and founded the Asian, Asian-American, and Pacific Islander Empowerment Group. After graduating college in 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies, English, and Philosophy, she was drawn to TURN’s mission to help underserved communities to gain access to clean energy and quality phone service. Reina says, “There is a word in Japanese that I live by, and it is pronounced, ‘Omotenashi’ which means to wholeheartedly look after guests/customers without expecting something in return. I believe TURN reflects this word in that this organization always strives to improve the lifestyles of communities in California and expects nothing in return from these communities. I am honored to be part of this organization and look forward to indirectly serving these communities by supporting the legal team and other staff members at TURN.”
