Oakland Black Cowboy Association (OBCA) 52nd Annual Parade and Festival

October 3, 2026

The Oakland Black Cowboy Association’s (OBCA) 52nd Annual Parade and Festival brought the Oakland community together to celebrate Black cowboy history, culture, family, and community pride. The event featured the traditional parade, horses, youth activities, vendors, entertainment, and opportunities for community members to connect with local organizations and resources. TURN participated through community outreach and engagement, while connecting with residents and sharing information about TURN’s work. We also were able to gather community stories and raise awareness about ratepayer advocacy and ways community members to get involved. The event provided an amazing opportunity to build relationships, engage with Oakland residents, and strengthen TURN’s presence within the community. Through our connected presence at events like the OBCA Festival and Parade, TURN is committed to building trust, amplifying community voices, and empowering Oakland residents to advocate for affordable utility services.
