Stop Shutoffs – Win Clean Energy
TURN receives hundreds of calls, e-mails and letters from California consumers every year who have complaints or questions about their energy, gas, phone, Internet, water and other services. Many have been shut off, are on the verge of a shut off or don’t know or understand how to find the information they need in order to resolve their complaints.
To help facilitate some of this work TURN created a Training of Trainers Leadership Development project that provides training and information to community based organizations, social service agencies and others on how to prevent energy shut offs, reduce monthly bills, and to stop policies that rip off our communities and win policies that save the Environment and money!
TURN has developed training, curriculum and fact sheets that primarily addresses the rights of customers of electric, gas and telecommunications companies. The training manuals are divided into a number of sections and subsections to help you find what you need quickly.
Our Energy Training Manual contains information about common problems consumers have with utility companies such as:
- Utility shut-offs
- Payment arrangements
- High or inaccurate bills
- Estimated billings
- Smart Meters
- Understanding how to work with a utility company
- Understanding how and when to file a complaint with the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC)
“Energy insecurity threatens the health and safety of low-income families, especially children and people who are medically vulnerable!”
